Bee Mine Valentine’s “Wreath”

I love wreaths! I really really do! I have quite a few but not as many as I would like, and one that I don’t have is a Valentine’s Wreath so of course I had to make one.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any wreath bases right now and I really did not want to go out and get one so I started looking around for something I could use and I found a delightful frame that has been sitting unused for the past two years.

I gathered all my materials, mostly a whole lot of left over greenery and a few Valentine’s colored flowers and set to work.

First I started by trimming the leaf groups as well as separating some into singles and started hot gluing them on the frame. I wanted my leaves to go in the same direction so I was very aware of how I glued them to the frame.

This uses soooooo many more leaves than you think it will. All of mine are left over from other projects but you can always buy greenery and clip it apart as well.

As you continue to cover the frame little ones and twos are helpful for filling gaps and a little glue on a few of the leaves to position them just right is really helpful.  However, try to limit how much you glue the actual leaf so that the frame doesn’t end up looking flat.

After you are happy with the greenery lay out the flowers how you like and then start gluing them on to the flowers. A nice mix of colors and spacing helps to make the frame look balanced.

After everything is dry and where you want it, it’s time for the inside of the picture frame! You need a picture! For that I chose a nice pink scrapbook paper that had a nice pattern of bugs on it.  I knew I wanted the saying to be “Bee Mine” with a bee or two on it but I honestly had no desire to create it myself.  So I found a most delightful file on Owl Cottage Studio. I cut my 12x12 scrapbook paper to fit my printer and printed the image in the size I needed for the frame.

Once everything was how I liked it, it was time to hang it! I added some thick gauged wire to create a hanger for it and now it is ready for a sweet Valentine’s welcome for all my visitors.
