Our Family Celebrations Wooden Sign
The board I got from Michaels. The hardware and hearts and circles are from Hobby Lobby. I painted the background of the board with pavement acrylic paint, the circles with teal and white acrylic paint, and the hearts with cardinal red acrylic paint. Once the background was dry I typed up the phrase I wanted on the board and sized it for the board. After printing it out I placed the "Our Family" where I wanted it and using tracing paper traced it onto the board. I then placed "Celebrations" on the board where I wanted it and traced it with tracing paper. I did them separately because I wanted them to overlap. I painted them and while it was drying I began working on the months. I decided that it would be less work and less clutter to just use the abbreviations for the months. Once I had them sized and typed how I wanted I did the same as before and traced them onto the board and then painted them.
Once all of the words and the dangle pieces were dry I sanded them down and made sure to remove some paint here and there to add a bit of distressing. After that I wiped the dust off of them and stained them with Minwax Jacobean stain, wiping the excess off after covering the entire board. This helped to make it look antiqued.
After letting everything dry I sprayed it all with a clear satin sealer and grabbed the hardware and my drill. I put eye hooks in the bottom of the board, centered under each month. I then drilled a whole in the top and bottom of each dangle piece.
For the next part you could buy S hooks to connect each dangle but I used wire and shaped it myself. I attached it to the top of each dangle and then used a paint pen to write each name and date for each family member. I just used either a white or teal circle for birthday's not differentiating between boys and girls and the hearts I used for wedding anniversaries. Once everything is done just hang it up and add your celebrations!
